“Chennai Express” had done scintillating performance in first week and collected mammoth 156 crores. In last seven days, it shattered lots of records but now, form Friday, film is available on around 1500 screens and new film “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Doubara” can present some competition so further way would be not easy. The way film performed in first week is beyond imagination but now to continue this performance would be difficult.
CE becomes highest grosser film of Shahrukh Khan’s career and first film crossed that crossed benchmark of 150 crores. The film is extending towards 200 crores marks but it would be early to say; we cannot negate the possibility. If film sustains well in 2nd week then it can break “Three Idiots record and become highest grosser film of Indian cinema.
If we talk about 2nd Friday business, film started slowly in the morning show with around 25% occupancy and improved later around 40-45% in last two shows. Overall business was fantastic and film managed 5.50 crores which brought total domestic collection around 161.83 crores.
CE also continues fantastic business on international box office and so far garnered 67.75 crores which brought total worldwide collection around 229.58 crores.
