“Ek Thi Daayan” is a romantic supernatural thriller film released on 19th April. Film opened with a decent figure 6.25 and got affirmative reviews & public response but it faced unexpected situation on Saturday when its collection declined suddenly; further it improved on Sunday but could not even match first day figure therefore it finished first weekend with very ordinary figure 17.61 crores.
The trend developed on weekend gave indication what would be happen on weekdays. The film showed around 60% drop on Monday from Friday and collected around 2.90 crores. Now total domestic collection is 20.50 crores and likely to finish first week around 25 crores.
The film did not perform well in those areas where Emraan Hashmi’s film, usually does well. It seems that people is not in mood to watch horror genre film. Few weeks ago Bipasha Bashu starrer horror film had come and did similar business.
This is upsetting new for makers they will recover production cost but many distributors would be in loss and film will hardly get average status if running on current track.
